Corticobasal degeneration is a progressive neurological disorder characterized by nerve cell loss and atrophy (shrinkage) of multiple areas of the brain including the cerebral cortex and the basal ganglia.

Corticobasal degeneration (CBD)is a sister disease of Alzheimer's disease, progressive supranuclear palsy and various parkinsonian diseases. Treatment to increase dopamine levels does not work. Since any of these diseases can be misdiagnosed for the other, this article provides help in making the correct diagnosis between CBD, PSP and Alzheimer's.
